The First Edition of the ETA Tarot was publshed in 2017. The ‘Emerging Toronto Artists‘ group was founded in 2014 to support artists in and around Toronto ON. A few years later a call was announced to find 80 artists to create this collaborative Tarot deck.
After the success of the ETA Tarot project (creating original art, a gallery show, and then the deck) a call went out for the creation of an Oracle deck. The result is a deck of 56 cards with art inspired by “crown” and a specific key word. This was published in 2020.
The decks and guidebooks shown here are my personal copies. Both images link to a much larger version. The Tarot guidebook was reprinted in 2022, but both decks and guidebooks are now Out Of Print.
A call for submissions for the ETA Tarot II was announced in 2023 (iirc). With ETA now representing ‘Elevate Toronto Artists– an artist collective which has brought together 40+ Canadian artists to illustrate one beautiful & magical tarot deck. Each of the 80 cards in the ETA TAROT represents an original, physical artwork, created by hand with paint mediums on canvas & wood surfaces, with a total production time spanning over the past 6 months.
The deck was expected to be available late in 2024, but the project, and its co-ordinator, have experienced drastic issues. Personal ones for the co-ordinator, with massive changes in shipping, tariffs and other world economic factors impacting the new deck. There is no updated ETA (shipping date) for ETA II. I eagerly await the arrival of ETA Tarot II – and the fabulous images created by artists in my home town.
