Blurb’s Automated Facebook Book

There are a number of reputable POD (print on demand) web-sites that can produce a physical book with your content. Each site has its strengths and weaknesses. Selecting the right one for your project can be a challenge. Do you have the skills (and correct software) to produce the necessary high-quality file that meets the printer’s every requirement?

Fortunately you can hire a designer (such as myself) to organize and design a book; a wise investment if you intend to sell your book on-line or off. If you want to create a hard copy memento of a specific event, time period or group of friends that have coalesced around your Facebook account the cost (and additional design time) might not make sense to you.

Many POD sites have basic templates that you could fill with images, but the real fun of Facebook is interacting with people; sharing and commenting on pictures and posts. People want to hold on to their memories and conversations around photos that matter to them. Blurb allows Facebook users to quickly and easily create tangible, bookstore quality memory books in less than an hour. Blurb’s Facebook to photo book workflow enables you to print favorite photos including the photo’s comments in a stylish 7″x7″ square format book in just minutes, with prices starting under $11.

Blurb provided me with the opportunity to produce my own test version of their Facebook to Photo Book process for free. Above you can see a typical page with one of my photographs and some of the comments posted to it. Check out the complete book at my Blurb Bookstore. Their on-line book creator walks you through the process; log in to Facebook, select images (or whole galleries) and it will lay it all out. Then you can, if you want, move pages around to get the best arrangement.

Below you can compare the thickness of a recent 20 page book I produced with ImageWrap (printing directly on the hard cover) and my paperback Facebook Photo Book with 40 pages (both in full colour). The Imagewrap or traditional hard cover (with a paper dust jacket) and an assortment of paper upgrades are available; perfect if you are preparing a special gift.
